Vision & Mission

The South African Junior Golf Association has amalgamated and incorporated the Just Think,,, golf group, in particular the Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International in its national vision and mission.

Ambassador Johan Engelbrecht's track record and achievements since 1991 speaks convincingly for itself. One of its characteristics and attribute is the patience and subtle skills expressed when working with children of all personalities and ages.

The South African Junior Golf Association and the Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International is the pioneers in South Africa and in Zambia developing young players for the future.

Our Vision and Mission encompassed setting up offices in all 9 provinces within the South African Municipal geographical boundaries. The South African boundaries are based upon the national municipal boundaries with 52 districts and proposed 100's of new entrepreneurs to own and run franchises within the 52 districts.

Two of Its main objectives within each suburb is to initiate mini golf as a school sport and to establish a minimum of one professional golf school within each suburb.

For instance, the City of Cape Town Metropole is divided in 8 suburbs and children are already welcomed in our Northern & West Coast Suburb golf schools.

Man behind the name:

Johan Engelbrecht is well known within the South African professional golf fraternity. He is a family man by nature, loves children, enjoys a good conversation, and likes nothing better than being outdoors.

 

Johan is the founder and president two most influential grass root children’s golf development movements in South Africa namely the:

  • South African Junior Golf Association

Johan Engelbrecht:

  • Ambassador.
  • AAA Member of the PGA of SA, membership since 1986.
  • Full member of the PGA Sunshine Tour of SA since 1987.(Encompasses accumulative knowledge of more than 25 years in amateur as well as in the professional golf fraternity)

 All parties adhere to the international rules of golf as provided by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St’ Andrews, Scotland.   

 

Despite the fact that Johan finished tenth in the PGA Sunshine Tour’s tour school in 1987 he never participated full time on tour. However, as professional player has won more than a dozen professional tournaments.

 

We are proud to announce that multiple players already emerged from our golf educational ranks into the Professional golf arena.

Johan’s ideal golfing icon has always been the late Bobby Locke, however believes that aspiring young golfers could learn from 21st century professionals such as Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel.

 

Just Think,,, Golf School Establishments

The Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International is fully inaugurated, as founding partner with the South African Junior Golf Association and operates under its jurisdiction as national golf educator throughout its 52 proposed districts in 9 SA provinces.   

 

The South African Junior Golf Association & the Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International envisage hundreds of golf school franchises within its geographical boundaries that is based upon the SA municipal borders.  

 

Parties are currently in extensive and well advanced negotiation stage to obtaining land for its own children’s golf course within the City of Cape Town Metropole. The proposed facility is earmarked to cater for boys and girls as well as for adults that includes a driving range, unique 20-bay indoor training centre, putting greens, bunkers, gym, classrooms and mashie golf course.

 

All age groups receive ample playing opportunities on mashie and full-length Golf Courses for handicap purposes. Affiliated Handicaps are provided by and under jurisdiction of the South African Junior Golf Association.  (Visit www.sajga.co.za)

1. GOLF TUITION   

By our qualified PGA Golf Professionals

The best PGA Touring Professionals adheres to basic fundamentals. The JEGSI is no exception and all young golfers are schooled according to age group levels in:

  • Mastering the basic fundamentals.
  • Mastering the six basic golf shots and their techniques.
  • Course management (on course)
  • Playing formats (3 of 20.)
  • How to practice.
  • Problem solving.
  • Golf rules (most frequent encountered).
  • Golf etiquette / code of conduct.
  • Score cards - professionals have been disqualified as a result of failures.

2. GOLF PSYCHOLOGY

By our qualified Psychologist

Golf Psychology or mental golf training becomes practical. Firstly, once the young player has discovered and understands his/her own personality traits. Secondly, understands our eight championship norms concerning mental thinking linked to actions and how to achieve that ideal golfer’s personality. Thirdly, master the ABCD methodology of mental thinking and equip the young player with the capability in changing negative thoughts into rational positive thoughts, how to prevent destructive feelings from arising as well as how to relax and stay efficient during playing.

 

3. GOLF BIOKINETICS:

Qualified Bio-Kinetics

Muscle development is essential for the young player’s progression. However, it is often undervalued by many. Public gymnasiums offer various training programs, however, contribute only to general physical fitness and do not provide specialised bio kinetics according to our norms. With more than twenty five years of experience and successes across the world in amateur as well as professional golf development, the Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International is a

sought after golf coaching medium because it includes the said.

 

Our muscle development program contains scientific proven facts and the following are presented: one, cardiovascular and physical fitness, two, muscle flexibility and ROM, three, muscle power, four, muscle building, five, muscle endurance, six, muscle balance, seven, senses, eight, skeleton and bone structure and injury recoveries.

 

Physical muscle development of the young golfer is most important and of great value in supporting equality in muscle strength which supports the swing, timing and balance.

 

4. CORRECT GOLF EQUIPMENT

By our qualified specialist

The JEGSI provides the young player with the facility of having golf equipment custom-fitted for them. This means that you won’t buy off the shelf hoping to choose the right club. Johan is a qualified specialist and knows that no two golfer’s physique is the same, therefore measures an individual’s arms length, hand size, swing speed, lie angles, balance and other features to determine the best-suited clubs.

 

5. GOLF NUTRITION

We teach the values of nutrition and the player learns how the body uses fuel-providing energy for periods up to four, five hours at a time. We also teach how the different blood types (A, AB, O neg, O pos, for example) react to different food intakes, all according to scientific proof.

 

6.) PLAYER MANAGEMENT

Knowledge in this discipline is a high priority and determines how successful the player will be regarding electing the right shot at the right time and also learns how to conduct him from tournament to tournament.  

 

7.) OUR 10 CORE JUST THINK LIFE SKILL VALUES

We envisage life-changing manifestation in the hearts of our sons and daughters back to the fathers and mothers. The hearts of our fathers and mothers back to their children through our junior golf development programs by introducing our 10 Core Just Think Values; Self respect, Obedience, Willing Spirit, Education, Participation, Efficiency, Determination, Sportsmanship, Confidence and Consideration.

 

COST STRUCTURE:

The Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International has two branches. One is situated in the Northern and the other in the West Coast Suburb.

 

There are two different cost structures and is based upon the duration of coaching sessions.  

 

Cost structure 1, includes a one hour professional golf coaching session per week against a cost of two thousand one hundred rand per annum.

 

Coaching is conducted in group sessions and is based on one session per week and includes:

  • Annual pre paid green fees at the Royal Burgundy Mashie golf course, Northern suburbs,
  • golf school cap
  • Player’s curriculum.   

  Cost structure 2, includes a two hour professional golf coaching session per week against a cost of three thousand six hundred rand per annum.

 

Coaching is conducted in group sessions

 and is based on one session per week. Annual cost includes:

  • pre paid green fees at the Royal Burgundy Mashie golf course

 Northern suburbs

  • a golf school cap
  •  Player’s curriculum.   

 

PAYMENT METHOD

Fees are based annually and are payable upfront on or before the first day of coaching via two manners.

  • Once of payment in cash, EFT, or cheque.
  • Four post dated cheques is to be handed in simultaneously, dated January 20th, February 28th, March 30th, April 30th.

We regret, no monthly payment method is available. Pro rata fees are applicable and calculated as from date of initial participation, making it easy for children to join throughout the year. Terms & Conditions apply.

Our national goal is to establish offices in all suburbs encompassed within the 52 Municipal suburbs across SA‘s 9 provinces and are based upon the municipal geographical boundaries.

 

Currently, children could either attend activities in the Northern or West Coast Suburbs that is situated in the City of Cape Town Metropole.

Training at this branch is conducted on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International, west coast suburb branch is located at the premises of the Melkbosstrand Private School, Melkbosstrand.

 

Training at this branch is conducted on a Monday only.

AGE GROUP 4 – 7 years

Age group 4-7 trains according to a one hour training slot, except on public holidays and or during school holidays.

 

It is the ideal training group for boys and girls playing within those age groups. We endeavour to separate beginners from the more advance players according to the South African Junior Golf Association’s norms.

 

Furthermore, the time slot for age group 4-7 was carefully chosen and is ideal because most of our 4-7 year old's finishes school around 13h00 and the timing is most convenient to pick and travel to the venue in time.

Royal Burgundy Mashie Course

Age 4-7

Parents are reminded that the annual golf school membership fees include free children’s green fees at the Royal Burgundy Mashie Course situated at the Burgundy Estate, Northern Suburbs.

 

Participants are trained at full via mini golf on the sport field at each location however encourage parents to take children to play golf on the Royal Burgundy mashie course as often as possible.  

 

Scores have to be recorded at all times and score cards have to hand back to their coaches in order to ensure the player receives his / her SAJGA Mini Golf Handicap and to be listed on the order of merit.

 

Simply arrive and register at the control office, show your members badge and play. Pre bookings may be applicable during busy times.

 

We endeavour not having more than 20-30 children per coach and groups are always defined by beginners and more advanced players. Our measurable progress system is based upon annual curriculum.  

 

Official children’s golf championships are scheduled during school holidays and administrated by the Just Think,,, Johan Engelbrecht Golf School International.

Save guarding and how to manage on course playing is more complicated and stressful for children as what is generally known to parents. The South African Junior Golf Association is eagerly seeking cooperation with clubs to eradicate shortfalls.

 

Full length golf courses are often not child friendly and length of holes are not set up to host children golfers of all ages.

 

Furthermore, these and other shortcomings is worsened by Impatient and intimidating adults of all gender and ages who unfortunately have little patience regarding children golfer’s playing 10 or more shots per hole.

 

Therefore, when we do visit full length golf courses we render a most important protection and educational service to our children against an additional cost of one hundred rand per player.

 

Outings to play on full length golf courses are envisaged to take place once per month and are often combined with some sort of children’s fun activities. 

 

Normally parents have the responsibility to get children to and from such outings, however, our Just Think,,, Children’s Golf Tourism arm specializes in rendering such services and invite parents to tap into the said services that includes amongst others:

  • Collective transport.
  • Individual pick up services at homes.
  • Pick up services at our general pick up points.
  • Jointly shared travelling costs.
  • On course management costs.

(Between sixty - eighty rand)

It is the ideal training group for beginner and or the advance young player within those age groups. We kindly remind parents that we endeavour to separate beginner from the more advance player according to the South African Junior Golf Association’s measurable progress report.

 

Furthermore, the time slot of the age group 13-18 was carefully chosen and is ideal because most of our 13--18 year olds finishes school around 14h30 and thus encompass easy pick up and travel arrangements.

MEASURABLE PROGRES REPORT

Our measurable progress report is based on two measurable norms namely:

  • Theoretical measurements are done via various written and or oral tests and are done during announced and or unannounced time slots. 
  • Practical measurements are done via testing of various practical executions of shots as well as via scores recorded during practice and or on course playing. Two systems of golf are played namely the Soft Think game and or the V-Think game.

Graduation & Certificates

The South African Junior Golf Association’s graduation ceremony is held annually and is scheduled during the last week of November.

 

PRIVATE COACHING

Private coaching is available to children, adults, members as well as non members. Private coaching is normally conducted in the mornings and includes: mothers, fathers, grandparents, people that has never played before as well as group clinics.

 

Don’t forget that we cater and make provision for pre-school children’s groups as well. All golf balls and equipment is provided and is included in the cost.

 

Cost is structured normally per 30 minutes or per 60 minutes. Minimum time for group sessions is 60 minutes. More than 5 people per group are 90 minutes per session.

 

Burgundy 9 Hole on course playing sessions is available at R500.00 per hour.

Last but not least – we mustn’t forget – Johan Engelbrecht designed this coaching interactive golf school with young people in mind.
